James Smith the new VP AICM NSW Council

Congratulations to James Smith on being recently appointed as the Vice-President of Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM) NSW Council.

Like many James entered the credit industry almost by accident. A part time job while studying in Brisbane has led to him working in a range of debt collection areas – debt purchase, contingent, government, dispute resolution, business improvement, account management and now sales.

After moving to Sydney to join Australian Recoveries & Mercantile Agents Pty Ltd (ARMA), James joined the AICM after attending some events. It became clear to him how to AICM was able to enrich his professional (and social) life where he has met mentors, colleagues and most importantly friends. The AICM’s Young Credit Professional Award has been a big part of James’ journey having entered three times to finally win in NSW in 2018. As a NSW Division Councillor since 2019 his focus has been on the YCP (now proudly sponsored by CreditorWatch and ARMA) as well as events.

James is a big believer of getting involved and also not giving up on your first try. Being part of the AICM allows him to learn and grow as well as to give back to the industry by supporting other credit professionals in their own journeys.
